Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed . . . Well, You Know the Rest

There are so many projects that I'm in the middle of right now that I can't wait to share with you guys. For now, I'll let you in on all of my "somethings" that I've gathered for the big day.

Something old: One day a few months ago I was at my mom's house. She was giving me an old tin to possibly use in my wedding, so I started cleaning out all of the stuff in it. I found a delicate little ring with a row of diamonds across the top. My mom had never seen it before, but she assumed it had belonged to her grandmother, my great-grandma. We're still not sure how old the ring is or what it symbolized, but my mom now wears it every day. I asked if I could borrow it for the wedding, and she happily obliged.

Something new: my kick-ass wedding dress, made by the fabulous Sarah Seven.

Something borrowed: A Nu-bra, from a friend who got married last year and wore it with her wedding dress. TMI? Oh well.

My locket, with the teeniest photo of my dad inside

Something blue: Mrs. Perfume helped me to come up with the idea of replacing the gold chain on my locket with a blue silk string. I ransacked a local craft shop, and the closest thing I could come up with was some sparkly, pale blue embroidery thread.

So I guess I've got all my bases covered.

Are you participating in this tradition? What are your "somethings"?
